However, their history goes all the way back, to the days of the earlyower civilizations. In fact, there’s actually a good amount of historical evidence that sheds light on their development and the role of honey in making them.

According to some historical scraps found in an Egyptian tomb, cakes had been around as early as around 2000 BC. While these were probably just salts or fruits, they were tasty and were probably used in food rituals as well as being eaten by royal families.

They are commonly known to come in airtight packages, as they are difficult to open even with the best efforts. Due to this, and the reason for it, they are usually transported and sold in airtight containers. But cakes are not only found in bags. They are also found on tins, and even on cereal boxes.
