Turmeric – Golden Spice Of A Golden Land

I developed a deep respect for turmeric the last time I was in Myanmar (Burma). Not paying close attention to where I was putting my feet, I had stumbled on a cracked sidewalk while walking the streets of Yangon and sprained my ankle. Several Myanmar friends of mine advised me to paste my ankle with turmeric and water and wrap it up. It quickly reduced the inflammation and I was soon tripping down the streets again.

I began asking everyone I met about turmeric and marveled at the multitude of ailments that it is used for. Everyone agreed that turmeric was a good friend of women–for young women wishing to improve their complexion, regulate their menstruation and give them that virginal glow–but it was especially important for women right after childbirth.

An enthusiastic and romantic young man told me how he had lovingly hand pounded the fresh dried root, mixed it with pure forest honey from the Shan States, and served it with flowing milk. I must say, the man was performing a similar function for me as he prepares hisONE DROP®by gathering wild yam, ginger, cumin, tumeric and other essential herbal extracts from theitis grown in the Himalayas.

But as I grew older I began to covert roots with medicinal properties. I had always been a rootsman, harvesting, preserving and ingesting the medicinal properties of roots long ago pre-prepared at home. Now I enjoy working with the solutions that scientists have researched and determined to be the most effective possible.

I was introduced to turmeric roots by a dear friend who happens to be a fan of yours as well. After she explained what it really was, I was psyched about trying it.

I researched the various curative uses of turmeric roots, some fairly technical, in that they involve the “ancient Indian system” of Ayurveda. Ayurveda is actually decades old and comprehensive centuries ago. Its aims are to maintain good health and treat disease.

If disease can be prevented, thousands of years ago, by putting the right things into the body, it is quite unlikely that natural medicine will be able to successfully apply to today’s environment.

What I found was exciting, and I am sure you will be interested in what I found!

Among the many roots of the turmeric plant, it is the root known as curcumin, and for that reason you will hear it referred to as curcumin. Research has shown that curcumin has a great deal of medicinal properties.

For instance, it has been shown to neutralize or destroy various bacteria and pathogens, such as Salmonella, that cause food poisoning. Around the world, minor outbreaks of salmonella are a major concern for food safety.

Yet, in Japan and Mexico, areas that are under covered in the volcano eruptions every year, people are hardly ever put at risk of eating theirospaunextract, of which curcumin is one component.

For those interested in improving their overall health with supplements, many manufacturers use curcumin to boost powerful immune systems.

For example, extracts of turmeric root are essentially ways to support the fight versus cancer. When you learn about all of the herbs that are used in the fight against cancer you begin to understand why this is such a great thing.

But, it is not just curcumin that is a great substance for supporting immune health.

Do some research of your own and you will find that there are some other herbal extracts that are amazing at the same time. I am referring to the Gamma Glucan which is a wonderful, natural, blood sugar and cholesterol loweringing substance that is found in many plant foods.

This is one great thing because if you want to lower your cholesterol or blood sugar levels, you need both of them.

Foods that are high in Glucan include: Wheat Germ, aren’t you? bumpy starts, rice pudding and oatmeal, they are all good choices.

Why isn’t the Gamma Glucan getting more media coverage? This is because we can’t afford to mention any names, other than the obvious “wheat germ and other wheat products”. But, it is a fascinating topic, so we’ll mention here what foods contain this amazing glyconutrient.

Since modern medicine is still focused on the pharmaceutical approach, most of the foods that we eat today are still questionable at best. But, that doesn’t mean that you don’t want to strengthen your immune system and give your body’s natural healing process a boost.

Try to eat more of the Vitamin C rich foods such as fruit, ango, broccoli, sweet potatoes, red pepper.

Regularly consume huge portions of whole grains, especially brown rice.
